Profile: Jim Gilmour
Biography Mr. Gilmour has been an active commercial and fine art photographer since 1974. He has operated his own studio in New York City, managed the photographic studio for Nabisco Foods, and currently has a studio in West Swanzey, NH. His commercial work has earned him numerous awards, most recently, a first-place and a second-place Graniteer award from the Advertising Association of New Hampshire. Mr. Gilmour’s fine art photographs and multi-media sculptures have been shown at the Fitchburg State College, the Thorne-Sagendorph Gallery and the Lloyd P. Young Student Center at Keene State College, The Sharon Art Center, The Boston Center for the Arts, The Pleiades Gallery in New York City, the Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ and the Bergen Museum in Paramus, NJ. He was awarded a grant from the New Jersey Council on the Arts in 1986 for work with Polaroid image transfers, and received awards in juried competitions sponsored by ASMP-New Jersey (American Society of Media Photographers) in 1995, and in 1997 and 1998 by ASMP-New England, in Boston, and the annual juried competition at the Thorne-Sagendorph Gallery in Keene, NH. Mr. Gilmour has taught photographic lighting at The New School For Social Research in New York City and at County College of Morris, in New Jersey. Mr. Gilmour earned a B.F.A. in Photographic Illustration from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1974. In 1996 he relocated to New Hampshire with his family. |
