Profile: Sharon Partridge
Biography Sharon Partridge is a dichroic glass jewelry artist who was born and raised in Vermont and currently resides in Springfield, VT where she is developing her studio and design business from home. Sharon is largely self-taught but has had some formal training in jewelry design and fused glass technique training. This is an art form she was immediately drawn to and showed strong skills in from the start. She loves working in this exciting new and creative form of glass jewelry making. Sharon’s work is represented in several galleries and shops in northern New England. People love the gorgeous shiny colors and shapes of her pieces. Artist Statement I have developed a passion for working with glass and continue to be amazed each and every time at the vibrant colors that occur after each piece has been fired. Most of my jewelry consists of Dichroic Glass, which means “of two colors.” This unique glass will transform one color while reflecting another. The two colors are generally on opposite ends of the color spectrum, such as red and green. I create the fused glass in a kiln and fire the pieces to temperatures of around 1450 to 1500 degrees. Each piece is made of many layers of brilliant color, and no two pieces are alike. The glass is then cooled and annealed over many hours to stabilize the piece. |
